Words of Inspiration

Another layout I started but didn't finish for months...

Not much I can say about this one, as I started it months ago and didn't finish until today. No idea where the patterned papers are from (except the packages, which are from a DCWV Christmas stack). I can't recall the settings for the Cricut cuts, but I can say that the tree, swags, and packages are from Christmas/Noel; the seal is from Create a Critter. The title is plantin school book and had to be cut letter by letter because I am having issues with Craft Room and my computer talking.

Splash

Using a sketch from Sketch Support (number 18), I FINALLY scrapped Laim and the dolphins. I've started this layout so many times and never finished it, as I never liked how it was turning out. I'm still not sure it is amazing, but I at least like it. The wave paper is from Paper Studio. The dot is from My Mind's Eye,a nd the stripe is from a cheapy kit that I bought way back when I first started scrapbooking. The dolphin/wave border was cut with Cricut's Life's a Beach cartridge at 11.5". The large dolphin was cut at 4:, and the "Splash" is 1.5". The water drops were hand cut in various sizes. I used Cuttlebug's spiral embossing folder to give it texture. The waves were sprayed with Stampin Up's vanilla shimmer Smooch Spritz. Diamond and silver Stickles add sparkle to the dolphins and droplets, and I also used Glossy Accents to give the dolphins a wet shine.

Anniversary Scavanger Hunt

Today was my anniversary, and since we wanted an off-beat way to celebrate, we went on a scavanger hunt for found objects and found letters to spell our name and est date. Hoping this works to show what we found today! I am still new to using 4 share to share documents! If it does work, this is a link to out scavanger hunt results. We want to go back out, as we aren't sure we love the "u" or "a." I'm just playing with which letters look best--found objects or found letters and which go best together. The final project will have 4x6 photos matted to read our name.

Christmas Cards 2011

Here are our Christmas cards this year. They are pretty simple, but when making 25+ of anything, simple is good! The embossing plate is from Cuttlebug. The snowflake edge punch is from Martha Stewart. The stamp is from Jolliest Time of the Year by Stampin Up. While the paper is not Stampin Up, the ink that matched it was: Cherry Cobbler. The butcher's twine is from Martha Stewart, and the glitter is diamond stickles.

For Someone Who Loves Words

Over on Pinterest, I pinned a tutorial from . Today, I played around and made my own version! Mine sure isn't as perfect as the tutorial's, but for a first try, I can't complain. By the way, getting the cones the right shape and size was the hardest part, in my experience. I used a dictionary for my pages. While it fits my love of words, I'd love to rummage some used bookstores and find works of literature with which to do this! (Wouldn't A Christmas Carol be perfect, for example?) The tutorial has glittered edges and center, and she aged it with inks. I figure I will try those techniques too, but I wanted to see how a simple, vintage looking one would work, hence the button and slightly yellowing pages. I wish I had a library where I could decorate the tree with these!

The polka dot paper is from My Mind's Eye. The stripe is from one of DCWV's Summer Stack. The cuts are from Accent Essential and Plantin Schoolbook (I know--old school considering how many cartridges I could have used! LOL).

Be sure to notice the guys in the first seats of the first two rows and the sign they should have read...
